OUR AGENDA

What is our agenda? What will each project explore that creates our body of work?

Our agenda is rooted in the rigorous exploration of an idea that creates an argument for a particular position that is not a subjective one but an objective one. Our work will continue to explore the impact of programmed spaces within a building, formal building relationships within the city and the public and private spaces between. We seek a sense of place within our work - the genius loci.

Our agenda includes encouraging our clients to think outside of the box; to imagine; to challenge the status quo.

Our agenda includes identifying overlapping functions within a program, a search for efficiency in material function and form, an interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary exchange.

Our agenda includes the exploration of the middle condition - identifying the middle condition as it occupies a moment of dynamic poise... The intersection of A and B is neither A nor B but has moments of both A and B making its condition unique to A or B. Our agenda includes the production of a myriad of diagrams. The diagram - is a field of relationships awaiting a scale; a materiality; a story [narrative].

Our agenda includes the exploration of form. Form is born from the organization of function and program + program and event that occurs within a space. Combination and collection of events create form. Form relates to context - for example, horizontal program leads to one form while vertical program leads to another form. 'Force' is the overlay of an idea - an idea about movement - an idea about light or an idea about sound. The application of this 'force' or idea, to the form will be different and must be well considered for the form to be legible and therefore read differently.

Our agenda includes the exploration of the definition of event and how it affects function. Does Event = Function? What is the event that occurs in an office?... Or Is an event something special? ... What is the event of the everyday or is an event in opposition to the everyday?... What is the difference between event and spectacle?... Is there a difference?

Our agenda recognizes that the desert is precious and unique. The preciousness of water and the power of the sun... Every project will address these two things in a rigorous manner. This is our sustainable manifesto.

Our agenda includes understanding and articulating the difference between quantity of space and quality of space. We will program experiences.

WHO ARE WE? - we are juicers and grinders.
